i decided to go ahead and buy a current edition MBA....I think the only thing that I want in a new release would be thunderbolt as that could be amazingly useful especially since laptops nowadays don't have express card slots anymore except the 17"....
Todays model is a great value especially refurbished and will last years for its purpose...

The new 3.1 interface, while generally nice, takes away the option to change the color of the dock notification. Now I have clashing red starbursts in my Dock (those of NNW and Mail). I really preferred having only Mail red, because I need to see new mail out of the corner of my eye, but who really cares about new RSS items... :mad::rolleyes:

Try a Thinkpad T-series. Best-built for the money, with user-replaceable parts (try finding that on most machines today), and a keyboard that puts all others to shame.
Agreed. In fact, IBM/Lenovo and Apple have historically been the only companies that could build a laptop that survive a year or more in my loving care xD
Looking back, every Apple laptop I've owned since my PB1400, barring one of the two 12" AlBooks that just got dropped one too many times still works. The same can be said of my T20, T30, and the cheap Lenovo N200 I bought when I thought I wouldn't be able to afford the MacBook I'm using now.
In the same time, I've killed Dells, Sonys, various MSI and Mitac machines badged as unheardof manufacturers, so YMMV, but I'll stick to Apple and Lenovo. Sonys tend to feel just as flimsy as all the others IMHO, but maybe I've only had the misfortune to meet their lower end machines.

+1 for Disk Inventory X. I was able to get rid of a lot of duplicates and I think my computer was faster after wards. But not really sure :), I was just happy to get rid of the excess files.

I like to own my downloaded stuff like I would own a CD/DVD.
You own the physical CD/DVD/Blu-Ray, but you only license the content, whether from physical or now, digital media.
I really do hope this means more money going to the musicians and not the labels.

Any opinions for my new SSD?

Intel 320 Series 300gb
As far as I can see, I've gathered the following:
Intel:
Slightly better track record (MTBF)
More expensive
Frequently backordered
Slightly slower in most benchmarks than the Crucial
Offers a Mac ISO for firmware upgrades
Crucial:
I don't really know much about it...
Bit cheaper than the Intel
Bit faster
Smaller capacity
While I'm here, I'll ask another question. I intend on doing a clean install on my SSD (as opposed to cloning my current drive). Do I need the upgrade kit? Or, can I order an OEM version (they're less frequently backordered)? Will I be missing any screws or cases or useful/vital instructions?

Probably severed the main artery in the calf and he bled out over 2 hours. If your femoral artery gets cut you could bleed out in minutes (ever see Black Hawk Down?). The arteries below the kneecap carry less volume so 2 hours sounds plausible.

I think the opportunity to renumber was back in the 10.4 or 10.5 range. 10.6 was little more than a performance tweak. But little by little, we drift farther and farther away from that 10.0 experience. Maybe Lion, with more touchiness, will warrant a new number. But "XI" just doesn't look as cool as "X" does.
True though I thought that 10.3 should have been 11 and 10.5 should have been 12. I am glad we are drifting further from the 10.0 experience there were virtually no programs supported. I tried using 10.0 and 10.1 on my G4 but stuck with 9 until 10.2 when performance was on par and most every program was available for OS X.
Though I think we are still on OS X since Jobs said it would stay that way until 2020. He'll be damned to make it XI just to prove he was right;).

They live off of the donations themselves. It may be called Administative costs or something else but they take a cut for themselves. I think 15% is about average.
Of course, but these are true operational costs. Not the same thing as taking a cut for doing nothing other than being a middle man.

HDMI is basically DVI + Audio. VGA can't compare nor can component when it comes to bandwidth.
