This is just a thought, but maybe you could take one of your own flash drives into an Apple Store? They might be willing to clone one of the USB drives for you, or maybe even replace it for a small fee.
They did one better! Not only did they just do the reinstall right there in store to 10.6.6, they gave me a new USB key they had extra lying around. It truly is a different culture. I love Apple.

Wondering if this is possible here. I am an active member of other forums that has this feature and I find it very convenient. Thoughts?:)

I worked on that clip alone for about an hour. Then I managed to pull the lower case section out a little bit to disengage it. I also used a modified popsicle stick instead of a black nylon stick  .

Unreal 2004 struggles on my 2008 Macbook. I'm sure the current Macbook graphics are a step up, but not by much.

I was after the CoolerMaster Q Aluminium keyboard that toezter has, but it seems to be discontinued.
After a trip to my local evil PC World though (do they ever get any better?!?) I saw a fully brushed aluminium, PB type (but full) keyboard. Looks very, very nice. Pricey at 50, and is USB not wireless. But the major downer is the logo on the keyboard right above the function keys in the centre.....

congrats on the switch! first thing i always do is run Software Update and download any updates you need. there should be a bunch depending on when your machine left the factory. after that you should run Disk Utility and fix all permissions. then i like to setup my preferences and go. maybe import your music from another machine. unless you're really in love with partitioning your HD then go for it but i think you'll find that the standard system setup is capable of keeping your machine very organized. you'll see. enjoy!

Yes, that does look very cool. :) Would you please post a pic of how you wrapped the PS printout for the top layer around the rounded corners of the top casing? I didn't understand that. :(

I've owned a similar iMac G4, sold it a few months ago. It's a pretty nice machine, although it won't be anywhere near as fast as your MacBook Pro. A few things of note to get the iMac purring, definitely check out a RAM upgrade, that model of iMac can support up to 2GB of RAM and it is worthwhile. When you get it download TinkerTool (http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html) and Onyx (http://download.cnet.com/OnyX-Tiger/3000-2094_4-10870637.html). Those two applications can be used to really speed up the Mac, specifically you'll want to disable the dock reflection. If minimizing windows is choppy, you can set it to the Scale effect instead of the Genie effect. Also, instead of the dock icon bouncing when an application opens you can have the indicator below it pulsate. Start to mess with the settings and you'll be surprised at how much life you can breathe into it. :)

I'm going to be buying this iMac, with a HD and SSD together. However, am a bit confused on how the HD and SSD works together:
1) Do they appear as one drive in the finder?
2) If you download an app, then install it; will the downloaded *zip* (saved in "Downloads") be stored in the HD, and the app installed on the SSD (obviously saved in "Applications"), automatically?

We're about 30 mins away. Their employees have been coming out periodically taking pictures and giving out water bottles.
The best part is Alan (kid with the fro) has been telling anyone thats asked us why we're waiting in line is that Abercrombie is looking for new models. None of us are exactly "model material" but alotta people have been going along with it. There'll be a video up later tonight, it's priceless! :D

Nope, Macs still make more money.
Macs are still a higher profit margin and responsible for more revenue - but the iPod/iPhone lines introduce customers to Apple as a company. People who buy Apple's devices are more likely to buy a Mac later, so they are still important even if they don't make much revenue.

Finish: To take pictures to the next level you have to do some post processing to make sure brightness, contrast, saturation and sharpness are all good. These images could all do with some work.
I agree 100% with the above. I don't think your photos are bad at all. I think they're good. They just don't have the same "pop" to them as pro photographer photos, and this probably has more to do with post-processing than it does anything else.
Admittedly, I don't do a lot of pp to my images either, and stick to what Lightroom 2.x can do for me. However, I still use it to touch up the contrast, play with the exposure and brightness, black level, and a few other things.

I have a Camo patterned lenscoat on my 300/2.8. I bought the Camo for two reasons; (1) to blend in with the natural surroundings around me, when shooting wildlife, and (2) because it doesn't absorb heat, like black does. What is the point of putting a black coat on a white lens??? Canon makes most of their zooms & tele's white, to help minimize heat issues. Another benefit of having a lenscoat, is that is does provide some protection to the body of the lens, but also prevents paint wear, which in turn helps minimize depreciation values, if one were to sell their lens.
I would suggest asking this question on the FM General Discussion board. You will get many more specific answers to your questions, as there is a lot more traffic there, and there are numerous members who own & use lenscoat products. In response to the statement about fitting, the coat on my 300, fits perfectly. There is some slight movement here & there, but for the most part all the different pieces stay in their respective places. Also, I would strongly advise against putting any type of tape on your lenses, except for Gaffer's tape. I utilize Gaffer's tape in a few strategic areas, but I have never wrapped any of my lenses or hoods in any type of tape.
